「Vriants;TYPE and Variations」

Under the Japanese regulations,celtificates are issued according to type of product followed by variations in product configuration.

  • Variants means the range of Variations of the model TYPE that is included on a single certificate, where any optional features and differences do not affect the product testing. Variants are decided depending on Ex-features(as shown in the next page).
  • If there are optional configurations with different Ex codes, then the number of certificates increases. Different certificates are issued for each combination of type, apparatus group, temperature class and Ex coding.
  • This is in contrast to the single certificate for a product rage that is commonly issued under the ATEX or IECEx schemes.

Type-identification (Type/Variations of product)

  • Choose only one of each optional features(Element or classification) of the product.

Example2) On-going project
→　The TYPE; HS-100I　XXX　01　YY
→　Variation; HS-100I　XXX　02　YY

  • The code and ratings of The TYPE shall be described on the cover of application documents.
  • The features included as variations shall be listed on “Schedule of Variants” in THE application.
  • The TYPE shall be the one for the most severe condition, and so the variations shall be able to be evaluated in the test results of the Type.
