FAQ (Ex-Equipement)

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about the Ex-Equipement

Q.Can explosion-proof electrical machine appliances that have obtained certification (FM, ATEX, IECEx, etc.) overseas be sold, transferred, or used in Japan as it is?
A.No. It is necessary to obtain a certification certificate issued by a registered certification organization of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare which is subject to the application of the Japanese certification system, regardless of whether it is certified overseas or not.
Q.It is a product that has obtained IECEx certification, but what documents do you need to submit in order to receive a domestic certification?
A.It is necessary to submit the following four documents. For other documents and details, please refer to the “Brief Guide” on the website. Or, please refer to “Service-Application Supporting for Ex-Equipment-Documentation”.
1) IECEx CoC (certification of conformity)
2) Detailed version of IECEx TR (Test Result) described in IECEx CoC
3) A complete set of Drawings listed in IECEx TR
Q.Is it possible to add the same model by raising and renewing the certification pass?
A.If it is judged that it is possible to add the same model at the time of renewal inspection if it is judged possible in advance, it will be possible to receive it by preparing the necessary renewal application documents according to the manual. In the case of imported goods, a test report (ExTR etc.) and related drawings are required for the preliminary examination. Please attach the relevant documents and complete drawings and send it to our association certification department.
Q.Is it possible to support foreign applications that can not speak Japanese?
A.Please contact the International Department for assistance in English, Korean or Chinese.
Q.What procedures do I need to do if I need to change the parts or structure of the equipment after I pass the certification?
A. In the case of a passing product under the current explosion-proof guidelines, depending on the contents of the change, it may be possible to add it as the same type product at the time of the renewal inspection.
If you have a specific case, please contact the Verification Department. If it can not be added to the same model, it is necessary to receive a new certification with another explosion proof construction.
In addition, even if the expiration date of the certificate is still earlier, you can apply for the renewal test by advancing the due date (advance application).

Q.If the application product is very small for the explosion-proof electrical machine, and there is no space for describing the items to be displayed. How should I cope?
A.It depends on the application criteria. When applying the international harmonization guidelines JNIOSH-TR-46-1, there are requirements for the display of small-sized devices and small-sized devices. ).
The other standards and explosion-proof guidelines are also applicable if there is a description such as a special exception or a minimum display item applicable to small equipment. If not, in principle, all required display items need to be displayed on the device in some way.
In addition, if the cable attached to the device is included in the scope of application, it is possible to attach the nameplate by wrapping the cable like a flag.
Q. I accidentally manufactured or imported a product different from the content of the certification pass, and transferred or sold it as a certified pass. What should I do?
A. Contact the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare as soon as possible, and ask for a response.
