President’s Message

　The association was established as Industrial Safety Research Association in 1951 and it was renamed the Japan Society for Industrial Safety Technology in 1971. Over the past half century, however, we have consistently worked on activities related to the prevention of accidents and disasters I have worked on it. Regarding reform of the public benefit corporation system, we apply for a transition to a public interest corporation corporation, and in March 2011, from the Prime Minister under the accreditation of a public interest corporation group corporation as a group doing a business aiming at the prevention of accident or disaster , We have reached the present.

As a project for the prevention of accidents and disasters, the Association conducts surveys, research and research on explosion and fire hazards of industrial facilities, machinery, equipment, etc. and chemical substances based on domestic and international technical standards, In addition to conducting tests, certificates, etc., we also provide education and training, technical guidance and support for prevention of accidents and disasters. As the main business activities, we conduct a certification of 13 items such as explosion-proof equipment as a registration verification agency based on the Occupational Safety and Health Law, and under the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) which operates an international conformity assessment system, IECEx As the certification organization and testing institution of the system, we are testing and certifying the explosion-proof equipment. In addition, we provide technical services such as hazard assessment testing of chemical substances, etc. as support for implementation of risk assessment prescribed in the Occupational Safety and Health Law. Recently, in May 2017, we received registration of the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare on the provision of functional safety newly prescribed in Occupational Safety and Health Law as a method to prevent disasters.

The environment surrounding the association has recently been intensely changing and increasingly severe but in such circumstances the Association has refined the technical services offered by us with tension and speed, everyone We will make every effort to be an association that will be trusted and relying on. We will continue to make efforts to prevent accidents and disasters, so thank you for your guidance and encouragement.
