Construction of electrical machine equipment explosion proof structural standard

1.The standard established by the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare for the explosion-proof electrical machine is only one “Electrical machine explosion-proof structural standard” (Ministry of Labor, 1951) Notification No. 16; hereinafter referred to as the “structural standard”. )only.

Although there is only one structural standard, an electro-mechanical device that does not conform to the standards (hereinafter referred to as “standards” in this Article) specified in “Chapter 2 (except for Section 8) to Section 4” of Article 5 Among these, special materials are used, or special shapes, or used in special places, or manufactured based on international standards etc. related to standards, etc. Those that have been confirmed by tests, etc. to have the same or higher explosion-proof performance as a compatible electric machine instrument are considered to conform to the standard. Because the standard system based on the international standard (IEC standard) is used as the standard of the test based on the rule “,” there are essentially two standard systems.

As a standard based on international standards, “technical standards” (abbreviation) have been used since 1988, but the notification of 2010 (Early 0824 second issue; August 24, 2010) “Technical standards” will be abolished with the release of
Starting from August 24, 2010, those conforming to the “International harmonized explosion-proof guidelines 2008” 2) are treated as conforming to the structural standard in place of “Technical Standard” by Basic 0824 2nd. However, the 2nd issue of 0831 was issued on August 31, 2015, and the “International harmonized Explosion Guidelines 2015” 3) became a new standard (the International harmonized Explosion Guidelines 2008 was abolished).

1)Currently the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare
2)International harmonized explosion-proof guideline 2008: Abbreviation of technical guidelines for industrial safety and health research institute “factory electrical equipment explosion-proof guideline (technological guideline 2008 harmonized with international standard) JNIOSH-TR-NO. 43 (2008)”
3)International harmonized explosion protection guideline 2015: Abbreviation of Technical Guidelines for Industrial Health and Safety Research Institute “Factory electrical equipment explosion protection guideline-International harmonized technology guideline JNIOSH-TR-46-1 to -9: 2015”

We introduce the standards and related notices below.

2.Structural standard test criteria
The following two factory electrical equipment explosion protection guidelines are the basis for certification of structural standards.

(1) Factory electrical equipment explosion protection guidelines (gas vapor explosion-proof 2006) NIIS-TR-NO. 39 (2006)
(2) Factory electrical equipment explosion protection guidelines (dust explosion protection 1982) RIIS-TR-82-1

3.Should we apply “structural standards” or “international harmonized explosion protection guideline 2015”?
It is determined by the manufacturer’s policies and the user’s request whether the electrical equipment should be designed, manufactured or tested based on which standard. Although any electrical equipment based on any of the standards can be certified, only one of the standards must be applied, and parts of both standards can not be applied. The type approval certificate issued (although there is a difference in the notation due to differences in standards) the form is the same, and the legal handling is the same.

As mentioned above, there are two standards, and the procedures may differ depending on each. Therefore, in our association, the reference materials such as the guidance for certification application will be useful to be useful for the certification application of explosion-proof electrical machine. We have prepared.
